Your summary in #1 is correct. However, it appears that the update kit was not installed on this tractor, or it would not have failed. Since your tractor was purchased at an auction, second-hand, no warranty applies to this tractor. Our experience has been that some modules would fail if they were ever operated without the relay installed. So you should probably install the relay kit and replace the control module. Then it should be OK.

The control module really should be replaced because if it is failing, it also controls all the safety features of the tractor, ie, if you fall off the seat, the safety feature would shut off the engine.

If you call Allmand, they may possibly help you out.

The diode/relay eliminates voltage spikes in the system, and is actually in the glow-plug preheat circuit.

Thanks for the reply. According to Allmand, they became aware of the problem, but before they did anything on it, they got out of the tractor business. So the logical conclusion is all Allmand tractors are without the add-on kit. By the way, is the add-on kit a TYM part or a Mahindra part?

I'm guessing it's a TYM part through their various branded tractors. I happened to have Lawalls help me out and when he receives the part he'll forward it to me. He wasn't the dealer I purchased the tractor from and if there is any cost, I'll certainly be sending a check, as well as reimbursing any freight costs. We are really lucky to have this resource (TBN).

We had an intermittent no start on our 451, turned out to be a loose spade plug lead to the starter solenoid, looked like it was on but when I went to grab it, it fell off....pushed it back on and has been good ever since....
