I built a 16'-8' lean-to . It's made with pressure treated 4-4rs and culled pressure treated decking. The sides are various scrap left over from building and the roof is metal roofing that was rejected from a special order at the HD. The customer spotted a small hole in one section and cancelled the order.

You use the "toss it" method of stacking. I have done that too. Really no need to get all **** on stacking wood. :)

Is that your chicken killing cone on the center post?

The basket is a good idea, especially since you can stack them. I know one guy that uses the wire frames from the 250 gallon plastic liquid containers. Those are good if you have a source of them cheap enough. Of course with a four sided basket of any sort, it's quite a reach to get to the wood on the far side bottom. I've just made mine out of 2x wood, with 4x4 skids on the bottom and one side open for easy access. More expensive than using pallets but stronger and mine hold a half cord. I load them from the splitter and move them into the storage shed and then right into the garage when I need the wood. <img src="http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=342718"/> I have also tried using scrap field fence for the sides but wooden slats provide better support and make a better rack.

What did you you for the bottom of your pallets? I have been using regular pallets with wire mesh fence on the two sides but I am always looking for new ideas. I just picked up some free 2xs and a few 4xs so I will be building something that will last longer than regular pallets

I used 2x6' and 2x8's from horse stalls that we had torn out, across 4x4 pressure treated skids. Those hold up longer and give me a full 4x4x4 for a half cord.

I built a couple of movable ( when empty ) 3 cord sheds to move around out place ( we have about 60ac of woodland ) where I'm thinning or clearing at the time.

They are 12' long x 6' deep x 7-9' tall inside. 6x6 oak posts mortise/tenon jointed into 6x6 treated runners.

We use 3-4 cords/yr to heat the house and shop. I plan to build at least two more of these before long.

I added half inch Hardie Backer Board to my wall and sealed it, then put in some poles and a metal roof over it. I wanted my firewood close to the house and easy to get to, but also off the ground a stacked nicely. It will hold two chords, which is about twice as much as I burn each year. One load of wood in the stove will usually be enough to keep it nice and warm inside my house.

Nice sheds and I like the moveable idea if it holds up. Rather than solid walls, wouldn't spacing on the sides allow better air flow and seasoning? Weather protection could be handled by a slightly longer overhang.

Yea I used to stack but it took up time. Yes that is a killing cone for the birds sent to the wood shed, just a good spot awy from the others.

I have 3-4 years supply of firewood on hand at this time, woodshed is built on the south side of a metal carport.

I prefer not to be this far ahead, but my wood supply is at the farm 30 miles from home & across county lines. Due to Emerald Ash Borer scare, many areas don't allow firewood to be moved across county lines, that regulation isn't here yet, but that may change, so I brought more home last year. ~~ grnspot

I tried one initially with open back and front and only solid end walls. Didn't hold up well, so I went to this model which has done far better.

We have the Asian longhorned beetle up our way. I will not grab any fire wood from the east of us. Used to go on Craigslist and clean up on dropped cut up fire wood. I am not going to be the one to bring them here.
