Ingenious but too slow and no way to advance the strings without stopping. I probably wouldn't bother to make that portion a "yard".

I think you'd burn/blow up a gas engine on a slope that steep. The oil would leave the sump or you'd submerge the crank and rod. Either case would lead to disaster. Electric is the way to go. There's some interesting slope mowers on YT. I like the remote Trac versions if they were electric.
