Interesting handheld hydraulic wood splitter

I couldn't actually tell, but is the power source, electrical or air? It appeared to me to be electrical. At least that's what it looked like when the helper inserted the wedge. Thanks for posting.

Looks like hydraulic lines to me. But that thing looks like more of a workout than using a maul and wedges. Especially being bent over like that all the time.

And the angle that it goes into the wood, and from the outside, I have my doubts that it would work on stringy stuff like elm

If you have some big rounds you can't lift onto the flat-bed splitter, that handheld splitter could really come in handy. Do you think the span arch might be made of aluminum?

The way he is wielding that thing, I'd say its aluminum. But even so, It still looks like back-breaking work if you had to split ALL of your wood that way.

My back started aching when I watched the vid. But it does that any time I think about splitting wood. Just about anyway you do it, it is back breaking work. Lot's of lifting, stacking, ect unless you have one of the larger units that have the lift on one side, but you still have to stack it. It is a game for way younger people than myself. I just do enough for my shop stove, maybe a cord a year and some times will trade uncut wood for split and stacked.
