I want to get insurance for liability and loss of my John Deere 4720 Tractor. My homeowners policy does not cover the tractor and implements and I know many members here must have an "inland marine" policy. My agent is not all that familiar with insuring a tractor and I am hoping some forum members will share their information here.

I would appreciate agent names and/or specific insurance companies. There are clear differences in agents and companies so please share as much as you are comfortable sharing publicly or in a private message if you prefer.

Can anyone tell me an approximate cost of their coverage? I estimate the value of my tractor and implements at about $30,000 to $35,000 if that is helpful.

I appreciate any leads and information you care to share.

Thank you in advance

I have my 2032R with loader, pallet forks, box scraper, and front-mount snowblower insured through a "Personal Articles Policy" with State Farm. I had the option of coverage only on my property or coverage to take it elsewhere (clear neighbors' drives, trailer the tractor somewhere to help a friend, etc.). I got the latter policy with about $25k in coverage for about $250/yr.

My HO policy has a blanket coverage for my outdoor items. I have a basic liability coverage if I screw up and trash a neighbor's place. It is just part of my regular HO policy.

Here's a link to a thread on insurance. It wasn't easy but worked out in the end. The Erie agent was great. I don't think they cover your state, but would bet some of the rules and coverages would be similar with other companies. Get the info straight from the agent and in writing. There's a lot of misinformation out there because people assume all companies have the same coverage or because their brother's barber explained his coverage while taking a little off the top.

Try Farm Bureau. They handle my truck, trailer, and tractor. Texas Farm Bureau dues are $40 a year, but the benefits go further than that, in my opinion.

I use Colorado Casualty for my business, decent and better set up for business than most others in our locale.
