Installing U-Cup seal in JD 8A bkhoe swing cylinder?

Hi! I'm putting in a new JD seal kit a swing cylinder and having trouble inserting the U-cup seal down in the cap (hat). See the drawing from the 8A tech manual. It's the interior seal that's not designated to the left of #L-Rod Seal. All the other cylinders have a O-ring and a backup ring, but this cylinder has this single unit that is stiffer and much bigger than the hole it goes down thru. You can see in the pic of the Cap(hat) where it goes down into the lower groove. I even tried warming it up hoping that it would be more flexible. Anybody got a idea how to insert this seal?

There are special tools made to install them such as these; https://www.cascorp.com/web2/downloads.nsf/0/B42BF8812CAB02C7882571E600637C14/$FILE/599517_TB195.pdf . It can be done without the tool using a screwdriver to help distort the seal the same way as the tool does.

Thanks JD110. Got the seal in!! Took it to a friend who is a mechanic for a heavy equipment rental co. It's just a tricky matter of wrestling it in with your fingers. Not easy! The U making pliers don't work for this type seal 'cause they don't make it small enough. Thankfully, the bigger cylinders on this machine have o-rings with a backup ring for the rod seal and they're real easy. You helped me with adjustment of the dual clutch on my 870 a couple yrs ago. That was at 3500 hrs. Now at 4100 hrs and still going! Thanks.
