- 1964 Fordson Super Dexta, 2019 RK24 FEL and Backhoe
I had removed the backhoe on my RK24 last week so I could try out my road blade and rotary cutter. Those are not 60 models of indeterminate make and models but they both worked out great. I壇 still like to get a 48 rotary cutter as I have lots of cutting I could do in the wood lot with a narrower setup.
Yesterday I decided to reinstall the backhoe. Removing the backhoe was pretty easy. The toughest part was getting the backhoe situated such that the top pins were easy to remove. Getting the backhoe back in was a bit more difficult, but not that hard. Some tips to make things go easier.
1. Try to back the tractor in as square to the backhoe as you can get. Be sure your lower links are stowed properly. They should be attached to the cross bar of the tow bar.
2. Reconnect the hoses once you are close enough.
3. Be sure that you tuck the hoses into the backhoe frame assembly and that they are not hanging loose under the backhoe. I had two hoses in that position and had to remove the backhoe and practically start over. Make certain that your hoses are connected 100%. I had one hose come apart twice.
4. Once you get the lower hooks of the backhoe onto the pins of of the tractor, you are almost good. After that it is just a matter of jockeying the backhoe around to get the upper pins lined up and installed.
5. Stow your top link and lifting rods after you are done.
On the aggravation scale with ten being why did I ever buy this thing? I would give this a 5.
