Initial Maintanence

Thanks for the comments

Yes, I found out this morning that the 15w 40 is the engine oil, so I too am really surprised that he didn't put a new oil filter on. Doesn't make any sense to put fresh oil through a dirty filter

I plan to put a fresh oil filter on this weekend along with fresh oil, changing the front axel oil, new air filter element, and possibly the fuel filter (don't have my manual in front of me), and greasing the fittings.

I will be doing all of the future maintenance. My major mistake for not understanding the actual number of hours.

At least my neighbor has stopped piling up the hours on it since I talked to him. I told him I don't mind him using it occasionally. If this continues to be a problem, I'll have to buy a trailer and just haul the tractor back and forth. I'm assuming I can pull this thing with an F150 right??

Thanks again
I figured I could just barely tow my DK40 on a uhaul car trailer behind my Dad's '03 5.4 F150 legally with the loader on. Loading the back tires puts me over a bit now but not enough to worry about. The trick is to find a light enough trailer that can haul 5000lbs...
