indoor snakeskin identification?

Just found this fresh snakeskin in the vacant house I've been working on and then found another one about 15' away outside by the sidewalk. Suspect I have a pair that's going to mate in the house??? I'm in Middle Tennessee.

Can anyone identify what kind of snake or snakes these are from the skins?

Any suggestions how to get them out?

Yikes! Hear any rattling noises? j/k doesn't exactly look like a timber or diamondback rattler. But... see any indications of rattles on the tail end?

What part of the country are you in? That might help narrow it down.

Can you look at the tail belly section?
A key between venomous and non-venomous snakes is that the non-venomous have a double row of scales.

Found one in here when it was our weekend place. Actually I found it because a fireplace fan wasn't working and the skin was through the fan. Of course I put it in my Dads GFs bed!

Thats a from a rat snake they can climb like a monkey, I have them in my barn. You have to find where they're coming in and seal the hole but dont kill them, they are not aggressive and will eat a bunch of rodents. If you have trees near the house they may be coming through the attic.

Thanks for the quick replies. It appears to have a double row of scales on the underside of the tail. I'm in middle Tennessee. Rat snakes are common here. So...rat snake?

From what I read, they mate through July and then can have up to 80 offspring. So how do I get them out of the house???? I've seen some people suggest using a minnow trap with a couple of eggs as bait.

Unless you have mice or something in the house they are probably outside because they go where the food is. They may just be cruising the house looking for food so unless you can figure out how they got in and seal the hole they will probably be back. You can try the egg in the trap as well, if their in there I'm sure you will bump into them sooner or later, and yes it's definatly a rat snake skin.

If the snakes are there in the house, you have a mouse problem for sure. Deal with the mice and stop them from entering the house and you won’t need to worry about snakes.
