Looking for suggestions. I have an L3130, LA723 FEL and a BH90 backhoe and just recently I've been noticing that the fuel level isn't reading correctly on the Intellipanel. A few days back it gave me the same problem, but seemed to go away once I warmed up the tractor a bit, shut it off and then started it back up again. However, today, it seems to just be stuck on 1/4 tank when in fact I just topped it off to a full tank.

Anybody have any ideas as to what might be causing this? The temperature is about 35 degrees(F).

The rest of the panel seems to be okay.

We haven't seen anything like what you described but tommorrow is another day. I'd think it does sound like the sending unit is getting stuck.

when I fill my tank very very full..... it shows incorrectly.... low... then, after I use some, it shows full, which it truly is..... if yours shows incorrect low all the time whenm actually very full..... likely some sort of sending unit problem.

It's actually very rare when my tank is full. As you can probably guess, it's only full now because I wasn't able to determine how much fuel was in the tank and therefore topped it off. (Yes, unfortunately I lost a little due to overflow.)

The fuel gauge was reading 1/4 of a tank before I filled it and it still reads 1/4 of a tank. Even after an hours worth of use.

I'm thinkin' at this point it might be because of the cold weather. Possibly some gelling going on?

No, gelling wouldn't affect the fuel level. More likely to be a loose connection at the tank. Find the connector and make sure it's on good and tight. Measure the ohm reading with a good DMM. Run it for 4 hours and get a second reading. Slosh the fuel by rocking the tractor whild taking the 1/2 reading - it should fluctuate. Run it 4 more hours and read again. If it is still the same reading with no slosh fluctuation, it's the float. They will get a small hole and no longer float. Now that the tank is empty, it's easy to change out.
