This started before Christmas, is still going on.....and it is entirely my fault.
My six year old grandson wanted "snake boots" for Christmas. Just some high topped rubber boots for him to wear while traipsing through the fields, wood, and ditches on their 20+acres. While he was explaining to me what he wanted me to get him I, without thinking, said something about him wanting "**** stompers" for Christmas! Of course I let that slip out while my wife, son in law, and daughter could hear. The daughter immediately gave me THE LOOK because the grandson imitates everything I do. My son in law lost it and repeated what I said and started laughing. He got the LOOK. The grandson said loudly that yeah, he wanted some s**t stompers. He and I were threatened by the daughter with bodily harm if we repeated the phrase. What phrase he asked, do you mean s**t stompers. My wife had to leave the room to laugh.
Everything died down until Christmas Eve when we all got together to open pre-Santa Claus presents. When he took the boots out of the package (took me weeks of hitting every store within 40 miles to find them) his nine year old big sister declared that he had got his s**t stompers and that she needed a pair of s**t stompers for herself. Of course I laughed and got THE LOOK again from the daughter.
Then came New Years Eve. All four of the grands were sitting at a card table set up near the main dining table and the thirteen year old, who should know better but likes to stir the pot, asked her younger cousin how he liked his s**t stompers. Her two younger cousins and little sister started talking loudly about the shoes. I immediately got THE LOOK from BOTH daughters AND my wife. Also got two fingers pointed in my face.
I cannot help it that I am such a big influence. Just hope his kindergarten class doesn't have to tell what they got for Christmas. I have the teachers email address and was gonna let her know that she might have a problem. But was threatened out of it. Daughter said if the teacher knew she would probably ask just to have the story to tell.
