Buying Advice In search of a sub-compact tractor

So the fact that Kioti builds their own engines and tractors has evaded you?

They (Daedong, aka Kioti) also build engines for other mfgs, like TYM and Mahindra. Hardly a new or unseasoned company, just newer to these shores and not as big as some.

Kioti has been in the U.S. since the 80's. Not new to the U.S.A. either.

Hello everyone,

Based on reading as much as I have been able to in the past 12 days in this thread, on the overall tractorbynet forums, as well as some other very similar sites, I believe I have come to a decision. I am probably going to go with a new B2650HSD, loader, SSQA forks, backhoe with mechanical thumb, with R4 tires. I think it is the largest we can fit within our current plans and expectations. My wife, father and mother believe that bigger (vs bx or b2601) is better. I believe I'll be pulling the trigger tomorrow morning - I will go with another night of sleep to make sure - not implying that I have not slept on it long enough. I think the cost for that will be about 35,000 CAD out the door

Nice tractor and attachments and the 3 range hydro is a good addition too.

We will want pictures too.


edit to add that it appears that this tractor would allow either R4 or turf tires on the same wheels. That is good because often complete wheel rim and tires would be needed to facilitate a change in tire types. The R4 tires seem like a good choice for the tractor options you list.

I found a fair number of bx series videos, but only really Muskoka Kubota ((https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5xPcP_BlVUI) seems to post the larger ones. The cottage is 3 season, and winter is sadly not one of them. The dealer is going to keep the tractor on the lot (in the crate?) until I'm ready to pick it up, which will likely be on the order of 3 months from now - depending on how aggressive the winter is up here.

In scuts of the 3 I had listed here are ones I recall have a differential lock:

Cub Cadet and Yanmar sc2400 and sc2450 did.

Yanmar 324 and 424 but not the 221. SX series and EX series did.

Massey/Iseki. GC2400 series and newer GC1700 series and the 1500 series. I don't remember on the 1700 series.

Kubota BX series did have . . I believe the 2015s did but not certain.

The Massey 1700 series does have a differential lock.

If I were going to wait three months it would be better to keep looking. Locking in the sale only benefits the dealer and eliminates any other options for you. Winter is the best time to get a deal on most tractor purchases.

Hey, Matt, good move. I saw a B2650 at the Milton outlet mall a couple days ago (they were using them for snow clearing), and it looked really big, but then again it had the $10k cab on it. Did you get one from Kooy Brothers?

While I agree with this as a general statement, I am not ready to take a risk against the sagging Canadian dollar. It has lost 4% from USD and 7% against the YEN in just December. I have no idea where these parts actually cost from, nor when the last price increase was, but if it was say 3 months ago, then the CAD has dropped 7% vs USD, but still the same 7% vs the YEN, which could mean $2000 easily.

I have seen that tractor before. To a novice like myself, from a distance with the cab on they appear to be a full size tractor. The school across from my house has contracted some of the farmers to do their plowing and those machines are the size of my house, pushing piles of snow the size of a pickup truck

I went to 3 dealers in person and ended up going with a 4th that I only spoke to on the phone. Kooy was one of them that I went to, but I did not end up purchasing it from them - if you want details I can PM you or call you on the phone. All of the dealers I received quotes on were within triple digits of each other for costs.

Kioti has been in the U.S. since the 80's. Not new to the U.S.A. either.

"Since the '80s" is newer to me, compared to Deere, IH, etc. I would guess in some parts of the U.S. they are still a bit unknown or "just arrived" to those folks.
