Importing and modifying a new mini excavator from China

That's a hydraulic fluid issue. Your hyd inlet is on one side of the tank, and the pump will be starved if you tilt the other way. And you could only be slightly low on fluid for this to happen.

It has happened to me.

So out of the blue I got a call today from an 949 number. It was a distributor for AGT Industrial saying that the L12 that I have has a "mild design flaw" which can be fixed with an "O you tube extender". I am honestly shocked at the customer support. She had my number because I bought from them direct on ebay.

Anyways they are shipping me the part for free. From the installation videos they sent me it appears to extend the suction filter in the hydraulic oil tank out further. Apparently she said that will fix the issue with the pump being starved when working on a slope. So this seems to be something they think they can easily fix.

Also they said they were trying to stock a wearhouse in SoCal with AGT Industrial parts and accessories for these mini excavators. They have some in containers being shipped but it will be 2-3 months.

Post a photo when you get it.

I checked the AGT website, and still don't see much help posted. They should post videos or link to a Utube page to help their customers.

I got the Rhinoceros factory in China to do exactly that when I first got stumped more than 5y ago. I wish they would do more.

On the Typhon the hydraulic tank is vertical mounted on the forward left side which allows spacing between the bottom outlet and the upper inlet to tank. Pretty much no way to lose hydraulic flow if the tank is kept filled within sight glass range. However because of its placement they had to kick the B&S engine slightly out of square mounting as versus what I see of the AGT models. It is interesting the different approaches that different factories have taken to build these excavators.

As I mentioned before, the earlier (original, whatever that was) design was using the Koop or ChangChai 1-cyl diesel engine and a spline coupled pump. When they switched to the gasoline engine, they also switched to a Lovejoy-style coupler, which is much longer.

The Lovejoy coupler is better, but now the gas engine did not fit very well in the house. Instead of a total redesign (as I did) of the internal layout, many of the makers just shoe-horned the engine in at an angle, and eliminated the air cooling duct.

I ripped out and tossed the diesel fuel tank, plus flipped the engine around and cut a new air duct inlet into the house.

I suspect the hyd oil tank is a bit small for the pump flow rate. So, balancing tank overflow against pump starvation is more sensitive than it should be.

When they "Shoe Horned the engine in at an Angle, they also left out the Hydraulic External Oil Filter, Both the QH12 and FF12, have the Floor Mounted Oil Reservoir and Oil Filter installed with a Aligned Engine/Pump/Lovejoy Coupler.

Has anyone figured out the "Load Rating"? So an FF 12, (like I have Unlabeled) Is rated at 860KG, while a Toft 12 is rated @ 1100KG, DLK12 @ 100KG and a QH 12 @ 830KG.,

They are all the Same Machines!

Also, has anyone indulged in a Cab'd Version? The Open Station are Hot enough, I can't imagine a Cab. Cab'd version seem to be bringing more $$$ at the Auctions

Chinese weights and measures are not a fixed quantity. They vary based on if it increases sales appeal or if it reduces shipping cost. 1KG Chinese could be 2.20462 pounds or it could be 1.7lbs depending on day and weather.

It would be interesting to toss them on a accurate scale to see if they weigh close to specs. About the only reason for the weight discrepancy I can come up with is the counterweights and heavier sheet metal that some might have. Engine choice I am sure also makes a difference.

OK, I see. The 20 and 25MPa specs are just the ratings of the pump. RV for the system will still be about 2400-2500psi. And the 1900psi for the 2nd stage cutoff makes sense, too.

You should not do anything until you get a gauge and adapter to test and adjust the system RV. I suspect it is set low, and possibly close to the 1900psi setting, which is not what you want.
My Diggit em15 was at 2300psi before adjustment.

I'm finding that sometimes my mini won't move - the tracks simply won't turn when I move the levers - but when I let the machine cool down, we're back in business. This is kind of a disturbing situation to have happen.

What is the Oil Temp when it won't move? Does it happen after a Longer Travel Time or Blade Work?

I can tell when mine is getting Hot by it's sluggish performance.

Got better after I Wrapped the Exhaust, and removed the Rear Cover to let the Heat escape.
