What is the right size disc harrow to buy with a 3130 or if I get the bigger 4330?
Same question with box blade.

Thanks

Hugh,

I can't give you a straight answer to your question but sure will throw out an opinion. Kubota list the size implements they recommend for each model in the owner's manual and that would be a place to start. If I remember right Carver Equipment, an advertising dealer on this site, has the Kubota recommendations on their web site. That said, many of us have found Kubota to be rather conservative on the sizes they recommend. I guess that that is understandable when they can't know how hard you will use it or what your soil conditions are like. Florida sand is going to handle a bigger disk than Georgia clay.

As far as the box blade goes, I wouldn't even consider a box that was narrower than my rear tire foot print. If that required smaller bites to match the power and traction available so be it. When you reach the finish grading stage you will want to cover your tracks.

I have never used a disk harrow so I can't offer much about sizes. From what those with experience have said I would look for weight as much as size. I seems that a disk is not very effective without enough weight.

Good luck with your search.

I also can't give you a direct answer . But the Kub manual for the grand L's states a max of 72" for the rear blade . I run an 84" rear blade that's fairly hefty (520+ pounds ) and it works fine . If you take into account that a 6' blade won't cover the tire tracks when angled it just doesn't make sense . The manual also states a max width and weight for a Box blade on the 3130- 3830 as 65" and 880 Lbs . I've talked to some owners of these machines about that . They are using 72 " BB's that weigh in at 900Lbs +( closer to 1000) . I even asked the dealer these same questions about the Box blade . He doesn't see any problem with my going with a Rhino or Woods 72" BB that weighs in at the above figures . In mine and the dealers opinion Kub. is being very conservative in their widths and sizes .

Either implement is limited more by weight than HP with these tractors. A 72" box blade is probably adequate for most work and either tractor will handle it OK. 4330 would definitely handle a bigger one, but keep in mind the larger attachments start running into more cost.

I don't have a disc, but the same thing generally applies. The 3pt discs come in standard and heavy duty versions. The heavier ones are more effective.
