First.....The throttle lever has about an inch of play from idle position until the rpm's actually start to rise when increasing rpm's. Not a big deal, just wondering if this is fairly normal.

Second....The 3PH does not start to rise until I hit around the #4 position with the lever. So what good does #'s 1-3 do me? I've tried adjusting the valve knob under the seat with no change. All I get is faster or slower raises and none if completely closed. I would like the 3PH to move when I hit the lever, isn't this what position control is all about? I also have the infamous jerky 3PH hitch and I think I'm the only one on the boards with a L4400 that has this issue. Its not to terribly bad to bother me but I'm wondering if something needs adjusted considering the late response of the 3PH with the lever.

Any suggestions?

I've got an L4400.

My throttle is the same, some take up on the cable to the throttle lever on the engine before rpms go up. Seems normal.

My position control also really doesn't do anything between 1-3 either. Hydraulics work fine, the numbers just don't correspond well. Not a big deal to me.

My hydraulics do not jerk. They are smooth and reliable. Seems most of the jerky 3pts were on the 3400 series. I'd check with your dealer or mechanic if this is happening.

Overall, I love my 4400. Does everything I need it too.

It's been mentioned on other models that there's slack in the throttle and between 1-3 (actually 4 for mine) the 3ph doesn't respond but will stop on the way down to a certain height at 1-3.

Jerky 3ph hitch, can you shoot some video of it in action?

Well sounds like nothing to really worry about then. Thanks fellas for replying. I've had the tractor since April of this year and everything has been fine. While using it yesterday it reminded me to post about my concerns. If there were any simple adjustments to be made I'd figured I'd ask.

Teg- I will get a video up, just give me some time. Most likely sometime next week if not sooner. Got a busy weekend ahead of me.

No rush enjoy the wk/ed... ;) Merry Christmas... Have you've mention this before on TBN? I remember someone with an L4400 making this comment before...

Merry Christmas! Yes I have mentioned it on TBN through general posts in other threads. Never started a thread on it. When I mentioned it, those that responded stated thats the first they've heard for an L4400.

I recently traded in my 4400 for an mx5100, but on the 4400 I can tell you my 3pt hitch was perfect until I had a rear remote installed and then my hitch got jerky, I played with the knob and got it pretty smooth again. I think it must have got air in the system or something. Did you get your machine with an extra remote? Think it may be an install issue, and not the pump.

I bought my L4400 new back in June. I have had none of the problems you described. Mine is gear driven. Is yours gear driven or HST?

Nope no extra remotes installed. To be honest, I've always thought my L4400 was a "little off" in the hydraulic department. Just haven't had the time to get it to the dealer to get checked out. Just feels weak to me considering the size of the tractor. It has lifted everything I asked of it which is basically full buckets of dirt, stone or asphalt millings. But the curl function especially is weak. One of these days I'll get it figured out I suppose.

I felt the same way about my FEL(that is was a little weak) and checked the hydraulic pressure. Found out it was a few hundred pounds low and set it to spec and all was good.
