I\'m feeling homicidal
Spyware and adware has found a home on my computer and I'm at wits end. I have Pest Patrol, Ad-Aware, and Spybot, not to mention the firewall on the harddrive and the router (I was given AdSubtract as a gift, but it only blocks the pop-up and does not remove the bad files). I perform daily scans with all 3 until they show nothing, but within minutes my computer is locking down with ads.
I'm talking 3 to 4 ads per page, and I'm not doing a lot of surfing. Google, tractorbynet, CNN, and ESPN is about the extent of it.
1. I can't believe that marketers think I'm going to patronize them when they're bogging me down to the point I'm at the point of having to buy a new computer. This is like kicking your front door in and punching your wife just so they can drop off brochures.
2. I keep telling myself to send emails to the all the companies that advertise this way to yell at them, but I'll never have the time.
3. Is there a silver bullet to getting all of this crap off of my machine??
4. I think a lot of it has to do with malware in my registry but I'm not computer savvy enough to clean that up.
This was more of a vent session, but any ideas would be appreciated.
