IH444 3pt wont lift

I have an IH444 tractor that I use daily. The other day I waw lifting a heavy load with the 3pt. After I removed the load I tried to lift the 3 pt (now empty) the 3pt wo uld not lift. I pulled the Hydraulic Quadrant out of the tractor and replaced all of the o rings and cleaned and inspected all of the parts. Nothing apearred to be broken or bent.I have a hydraulic shop manual for this unit and followed all of the the trouble shooting ideas. I replaced the Quadrant and filled with oil. The steering works fine and I get circulation in the oil reservoir as noted through the inspedtion plate under the seat. The 3pt still wont lift. Any help would be appreciateed.

Not pos,---BUT I am thinking that you should have changed the main hyd. system filter----I HAVE 404 ,504, 574, ETC. and they are super picky bout the filters. thanks; sonny580

only filter on this tractor is in the hydraulic housing under seat and it is clean.

There is a small filter for the unloader valve, if it is blocked the unloader valve will be stuck open dumping pump flow!!!.

Your manual should show where it is !!

I cleaned this filter also when i took it all apart.

if you did all that work you likely got air in the hydraulic system.

The main pressure line from the pump going to a priority/flow control valve. Loosen the pressure line there with tractor running till you get oil spraying out (best to have someone pull the fuel shutoff to stop flow) tighten it back down ASAP.

PS may need a bath after this.

I tried your method and got some air as expected but still wont lift arms.
HOWEVER, I put the draft control lever in the full up position and pushed on the draft control link behind the top 3 pt linkage and got the arms to lift to the full max height and the pressure relief valve opened as normal. This was at half throtle. Therfore, no pump problem,or no priority/flow control problem.
I then moved the position control linkage out of the way of the position control sleeve which was protruding out about 3/8 inch as shown in the manual. I placed a pick in the hole in the end of the sleeve and moved the sleeve out of the housing about 5/8 inch and the arms raised up to the max and put a slight strain on the motor but the pressure relief valve did not activate even at full throttle. I went to my Case IH dealer to see about the possibility of a new spring that goes inside the sleeve and pusshes it out. when it arrived there was no difference between old and new except the new was $32. I inquired about the small position control assembly, $550. May be cheaper to just buy a new tractor.View attachment 320663

I got it fixed.
Apparently the over weight situation shifted a spool in the housing that holds the position control unit and would not allow the position control rod to protrude far enuogh out of the housing and the the oil ports could not function. I pressed the spool back into position and put it all back together ,filled it with oil ,started it up and it worked better than before.

I have had several different tractor hydraulic systems apart over the years and have not had to bleed one as yet
