Ignore List

Zero, but there is hope.

Everybody in this thread will now be on my ignore list and everyone else should do the same. Wait……….that means everyone in this thread would miss out on my brilliant posts and wisdom.

All joking aside I have nobody on my ignore list and if I start to read a post I don’t like I skip over it and move on.

My reason for ignoring somebody is that they insult others on here. Not that I'm bothered by what is said about me, or what I'm posting.

I find it annoying to read their replies to an question, or topic, and it's always his stuff is better then yours, and some insult about what you are doing is wrong, or what you don't know as much as he does. But he never actually shows what he has, or posted of doing anything.

I think the comment about some old guy sitting alone on his computer, and being desperate for attention, is pretty close to reality.

None. Thought about putting Muhammad on it for kicks
This would be a good one for next April 1, we could all put him on ignore.

Do you think he would miss us?🤔

Sorry for the dumb question, but I don't know how it works. How do you read a post by someone that is ignored? Does the post still show up, but without any text or what?

When there's a post from someone you have on ignore, the post is blanked out but the software adds a link you can click that says "view post".

There are a few posters who I tend to skip right over, but generally believe that everyone has the right to say what they think
I thought about putting someone on ignore once, but decided not to. A short time later he posted something timely and on point; which made me glad I didn't.
Pretty much exactly mine. Still zero. I thought about blocking the 🐊 but I just scroll past everything he posts that is a cut & paste job. Sometimes when it is a real topic and not political he has useful things to say, so that is why I didn't block him.

There was one poster several years back that was abusive to several members (not me) and I thought seriously about blocking him but then Muhammed banned him for the same behavior, so became moot.

Nobody in recent years. I like to learn about all sides of an issue. But I skip over a few posters after I get a sense of what's on their mind today. :p

Back when EV's were new there was someone who was brutally ignorant on the subject. When I posted that Volvo closed their gas engine design branch and further development would be all electric, he replied to me that I would be found dead in a dumpster if I continued to talk like that. Two members I don't know, independently sent me PM's saying they would find and notify his local law enforcement if I were to suddenly drop out of sight, his rant was that offensive.

I have no interest in listening to BS like that. Put him on Ignore.

Nobody else, since. I've learned a lot about tractors etc from folks whose political opinions don't seem reasonable me, or whose good advice comes wrapped in a boast.

Like I've said occasionally - we're all in this together, we might as well get along.

Got it. Thanks!

I always thought it was funny that toddlers could “hide” by covering their own eyes.

“Hey kid, I can still see you.”

Think about it…. :p

None! Some have come close but in the end I was glad I decided not to ignore them. One has become someone who's threads I really enjoy.

I can see this sad old man sitting at his computer trying to convince all there words on his screen that he's rich and has all these toys and should apparently be listened to and I just take a moment to try and remember "don't be that guy".

The above post by ning really got me thinking "What am I doing to not be that guy". I can be argumentative to a point but I don't have to be absolutely right every time. Life is too short for that. I like to poke fun at people but it's really hard to get that to come out subtly in print.

In the end I decided while yes there are some on here that really have very few useful posts the overall wisdom and advice on here is worth a lot more than being upset with someone I don't agree with. Sometimes taking a day or so to cool off and think about how I want to reply does me a lot more good than immediately firing back. And some are not worth arguing with at all.

"Don't be that guy" is on my framed list of wisdom quotes I gave to my daughter, as is "You can learn the most from the worst".

1 so far. Would probably have a couple others, but they haven't posted on here for a year or more.

“Don’t be that guy”. I like that. On occasion I’ve deleted a post before actually posting when I catch myself doing that. Apologies to all when I have posted them anyway. 😬😆
