Ignition Switch

I need to replace the keyed Ignition Switch on my 4005 tractor, this would be the same switch as used on most Mahindra tractors. The local dealer does not have this in stock. Has any ever replaced this switch with one of the basic car ignition switches from your local auto parts store? Or know if it would work doing so?

I believe you can find a replacement switch on that big auction site on the INet. BobG in VA
