I heard from another dealer. that after serial number 6000
The new L39's will no longer have 39HP . The machines with tier 2
motors has 39 net HP and 30.5 PTO HP.
after serial 6000 i hear the new tier 4 motor will have 37.4 net HP
and 27.5 PTO HP. I am very disappointed about this. i was hopeing with the M59 comeing out with 59 HP that would raise the L39 to at least 40 +.
instead there more worried about emissions. this is sad.....:(
there going to Smog it up...

Neil can you are any other Kubota dealer confirm this.
it is really upsetting. i was hopeing to get one later this year.
I hear there going to ship with in the next month.
if this happens. i guess i will haft to find me a nice used
Teir 2 L39. you dealers need to contact kubota. and tell them. this will
hurt sales bad. I know the L39 will out sale the M59 its just common since.
seeing how the M59 is priced. i think it will hurt kubota sales.
if this comes to pass.

If this turns out to be true, then a good Kubota diesel tech should be able to turn up the injection pump and make more HP with not too much trouble.

why the gloom and doom? YOu have a congress that is **** bent on cleaning air among other things. I have a new Dodge pick up with the new regeneration system, Everyone is, Oh my G-d! trucks will never run right again,, This is number three truck and it runs better than fine, went through several regens and you don't realize it is happening... I did lose a mile or mile and half per gallon. no question,, This doesn't make it the end of the world.. Two horse power loss is nothing.

You could always get a JD 110TLB!!

The change is because of emissions. We're into Tier 3 now with the mid-sized compacts and this is happening with everything. Some machines are adding HP, some are loosing, it just depends what fits under the hood. I understand that you'd like to see more HP in that machine, but I don't think 1.5Hp @ the engine is really going to change anything. It will take a long time for these to filter though the supply chain.

You can thank congress for tractors having less HP, and for getting more expensive.

Doesn't the 110 start out at 37 hp to begin with? No difference here.

Might not be that easy with all the smog crap on it. Turn it up here...mess up the DP filter over there. Maybe a new "chip" for a tractor? :D

One could spend a week, a month or a year on a 39 hp tractor, then climb on an otherwise identical 37.4 hp tractor and do the same work and I guarantee that 1.6 hp would not be noticed. My kubota BL B26/L30/L48 brochure that I've have for a few months lists the L39 as 39 Gross HP and 37.4 net HP (30.5 PTO). Were earlier kubota listings for the L39 shown with 39 net HP?

Guess I'm a little confused. I bought a new (probably one year old) L39 in December, and it was tractor s/n 53596. What's this serial number 6000 stuff?

I'd have to agree that a loss of two or three horsepower would be insignificant. I've only bogged the L39 engine down once or twice. Using the loader it loses traction; using the backhoe, the hoe pulls the tractor toward the cut. A quick look at the specs indicates that the L39 has the same engine as the L35. So I figure it's probably still a 35 horsepower tractor, with specs massaged by Kubota marketing.

I like this tractor a LOT! 49 hours on the clock. Hopefully I'll have the hyd filters in time to do 50 hour PM this weekend. Dug about 600 feet of trench in April. Got the tractor Christmas Eve, moved a lot of dirt Christmas day. Best gift I ever gave myself.

I sent an email to Kubota on this very subject back in November. This is the response i received.

Mr. Ferris, the L39 will be receiving a new Interim Tier IV compliant
engine. There will not be a change in the power output, and the price
change has not yet been established.
