You know, I just love this forum. Don't post often but it's certainly a regular stop on my 'net travels. I can't begin to tell how much I've learned over the years. I marvel everyday at the talents and knowledge you guys possess. One of my favorite bumper stickers is "If you think education is expensive, try ignorance." I often find this applies to me...I'm the type that will tackle most any job but I've been known to call in the pros on more than one occasion when I've got in over my head.

At any rate, there's a wealth of knowledge here that could fill a library. I would love to hear how you guys would answer this question: Thinking back in time to any period in your life, be it teenage years, 20's, 30's, 40's etc...

Is there anything specific that you know now that you wished you'd have known then?

If I knew how racing dirt bikes when I was young was going to create so many aches and pains later in life, I might have took up golf.

Afternoon Bill,
Hhmmm..... lots of truth to that statement ! ;)

Honestly, after being a toolmaker for 35 years, I think I would seriously consider another profession ! :) But for the life of me I dont know which one! ;)

I also think I would have banked more money rather than spending it on toys I thought I needed at the time also ! :)

Moved to the Pacific Northwest (about 60 miles north of Seattle) in 1987... Little company starting up called MICROSOFT. Could have been 20,001 millionairs.

If I had known how much money it was REALLY going to cost to have reasonably regular sex, I would have become a priest.

I'll give you a serious answer -

I would have worked harder in high school. I would have majored in my first-choice subject in college, instead of my second, which I chose because it would have gotten me into the workforce [to make $] sooner.

That way, I might actually enjoy my job instead of hating it.

With that said, I could have done worse. I got myself educated and have a good paying job I don't like. I suppose I could have skipped the education and gotten a low paying job I don't like!

I've thought about this a few times over the years. I'm 29 so I don't have as many years to think back on as some of you guys. For me, right now, I can't imagine being any happier. I've got an amazing wife and young son with another on the way. I've got a very well paying job (especially for the area we live) that I don't necessarily love, but there are worse things. I live on 10 acres in a pretty rural area, butted up against another 35 that my dad owns. I've got a pond out front, beagles penned up out back, and a tractor in the barn. We're on track to be completely debt free in less than 8 years.

I've got everything I ever wanted and I couldn't be any happier. I was driving home from visiting some old friends yesterday and that 'Great Day to be Alive' song (I think by Travis Tritt) came on. I looked in the rear view mirror and saw my son asleep in his car seat and I couldn't help but smile. There's lots of things I wish I knew, but I wouldn't change a thing.

Math is actually useful.

A well placed kick in the crotch doesn't do any good if the person you kick knows where you live.

Girls ain't icky.

Mom and Dad were right (applies to just about everything).

Why do I feel the need to "test" an electric fence when I see one?
