What this amounts to is Wisconsin's government is against independent people trying to make a few dollars because it's harder to keep track of who's making what for how how much, they want people out of the houses going to work places where it's easier for government to keep track of income. Also might be some politicians that are bought out by some businesses to get those unspoken favors...

I guess I come at this issue with a different perspective. We have health and sanitation laws for a reason. To be sure, baked goods are rarely a problem but what if the housewife made creampuffs and didn't refrigerate properly? A well intentioned but inexperienced cook might well make such a mistake and cause an outbreak of food poisoning. In a different setting someone might take advantage of lax food regulations and sell adulterated goods. China has had multiple problems of that type while the US has been relatively both safer and more rigorous in food safety enforcement. Health and food regulations may be inconvenient but they exist for a reason.

I would like to think that "The Jungle" by Upton Sinclair is mandatory reading in high schools now.

My wife isn't allowed to bake anything for the school for a reason. I can understand that reasoning.
