IF you commute what's your commute like?

I'll post information of the winner for the worst commute in this area when it happens.

Mine just got worse... I was informed that as of next week it looks like I will need to be "at the customer site" M-F noon to 4pm... 160 miles per day, and leaving at 4pm the drive/ride home will be gawdawful and twice as bad every Friday...

I think I am officially looking for work again.

I am also ressurecting the "Best small truck" thread because I'm killing my wife's Flex right now... 24,000 miles in 10 months!!!

Best of luck in the job hunt, I'd point you to my company, but we were all over the news the last few days.

My S-10 "deer slayer" just rolled 110k. I don't have a vehicle under that in my fleet. They all have racked up the miles.

I commuted 84 miles a day round trip plus driving to appts. from the office during the day...I did that for about 15 yrs...I can't imagine 180 miles a day...Good Luck with that....I would look for something else as well, life is too short to waste that much time everyday driving..

50 cents a mile = $80
160/40 (average speed) = 4 hours/day times $$/hour pay
There has to be a tradeoff!

If your commuting in to NoVa maybe you could find a place to stay overnight once or twice a week.

Mines not bad, 41 miles round trip and over 30 of it is interstate. The first 20 I have one stop sign, the last 1/2 mile there are 4 red lights. Not bad at all.

Mine is similar. Except I don't hit a stop light until about 4 miles from work. 2 miles to interstate, 20 miles of interstate, 4 miles of "surface street". At 7am very little traffic, half of the lights are still blinking yellow takes almost exactly 30 minutes at the speed limit. When I come home at 4pm, it only takes a couple minutes longer to get home.

I consider myself lucky compared to my sibling who drives from Fredericksburg VA to the bowels of Washington DC.

If I go to the bathroom before work its 67 feet it I go straight to the office its 7 feet. Yes I love my job most of the time....

25 miles round trip to park at the train, takes about 50 minutes a day for that.

1 hr each way on the train to the job.

iPad with 4g to help with the train time!

My commute is about 7 miles one way. I can't make that commute in 10 minutes, but I can make it in less than 15 minutes. About 5 miles of that commute is rural paved roads, then about 2 miles in town. The people we bought our house from moved to town because the commute was to long. I think thats kind of funny.
