JD X585
today would be the day!
although i have to give props to this
X585, it did the job and no lack of power,
but i did get a bit of clumping, wonder why???;)

mowed yesterday with 62C deck for first time
in maybe 5 weeks?

this is part of a lot that i own adjacent to my
now rental house, which had been mowed regularly
the past 2 years, but this year I haven't been over there
but only twice.
and wet, we have had a wet few weeks to say the least.

Send me some of that rain Dutch, we have a forest fire burning around our small town.:(

If cutting grass that tall I will make a pass over it with the mower deck all the way up first then come back after it has dried out and recut lower.

good luck with those fires, and be careful!

yea, i mowed with the deck at 4" setting,
ideally if i went back over today (90 and hot and breezy)
it would be perfect to further break down the grass,
but, it's just an empty lot not even visible from
the road or any house, so i think i'll just let it go till
i mow next time. not waiting 5 weeks though!

That is a first for me... Never had to have chains on to cut grass. I cut around many maple / oak trees with the 60" mmm on the 4110 in tall thick grass. I return with the 6' Bush Hog and TC 55 New Holland compact to finish the fields. I try to cut them twice a year which amounts to about eight acres. Great place for the wild animals to roam. When it comes to power tasks....... diesels are the king.

the chains stay on year round, mostly used with the
snowblower,
but there is a steep hill in mow that they come in handy,
and with the chains i don't ever spin (loaded rear tires also)
pretty much go anywhere i need to with it!

this empty lot should be bush hogged, i have done it that way
before, but if i keep on top of it the mower works good. just
can't let it get so high before i get there!

I have loaded turfs on my JD 322 that I used to mow with, pick up leaves around the house (it has as Power-Flow bagger) and clear the driveway (49" snow thrower). I also leave the chains on year round... just don't see the need to remove them.
