idler pulley spring

the blade will not operate on my mower when i investigated the spring on the idler pullet was loose still attached to the idler pulley but the other end of the spring had come loose what does it attach to does anyone know? i can't find anyplace to attach it that seems to work. By the way it is a model 1250 i think 12 hp and 38 inch deck several years old i bought it used. thanks
