Don, there wont be a tricky part when changing from hoist to lock, On a pulp/stick wood loader it will talk back at you by scrubbing or pulsing when you pull them both at the same time. We made ours from a half a 3/4 ton 49 Ford frame with a bad pinion gear. The dump was a Chevy axle. found som old cable and bam there ya go. Ours had a fold down windlass type landing gear like a Log trailer to hold the tongue up to self load it. To dump in a turn you need to find a pull typ bushhog pto shaft or baler shaft. I used a straight bush hog shaft and used it dumping in straight lines. You can also make a sub frame to hold the axle halves and cut the alxle bue section out of the middle betwan the axle bearin and the chunk and put the spool between the chunk and the brake drum. For a master cylinder go to a junk yard and look for a Raymond pallet stacker and get the control master cylinder by the steering wheel. Its got one lever and a 2way mastercylinder so there would be no confusions in which lever to pull.
Im not a genius Don just a 23 year old in a small town with not much to do lol. Ive got my degree from the School of Hard Knocks and Big Let Downs where the school colors are balck and blue. ! wished we'd have kept that trailer but my cousin sold it figuring we could build another one. I se my dump truck too much now and have too many big projects.
My biggest project is involving a transfeer case out of a 6X6 army truck and 4 combine tires and the hydrostatic transmission from the combine.
