Identifying yer of tractor

Looking at CK2610. How do I tell if model is a 2017 or 2018, or does it matter?

It really doesn't matter. Kioti has only been making that model since 2016 (according to TractorData.com) and tractors really don't go by model year as not enough changes/modifications occur to effect the overall model.

If that does happen, then the model number either changes completely or there's a definite 'year' change.

Doesn't matter. But you will find various ID plates on it that will have manufacture dates. Most likely on engine and tractor frame will be easy to spot. Warranty date starts from time it was put in service - if it sat on dealer's lot for a year before being sold and was 2017 manufacture year, you aren't losing a year of warranty.

And if you go to sell that tractor that you don't know what year it was manufactured you're going to list it as a, what?

I think it's kind of silly to not be able to readily assess year of manufacture. I asked this same question some time back, noting that provided decodings didn't apply to my tractor, and was also basically told: "So what!"

Also, there are design changes year-to-year.

The tractor serial number includes a date code that indicates the year of manufacture. Sadly, I do not have the information here at home.

Date of actual manufacture is built into the serial number. The decoding is shown in the service manual, so any dealer can tell you by breaking out the coding. A manufactured in 2016 tractor could be sold in 2018, for instance. What really matters is the sold for retail date, which starts the warranty clock running.
Date of manufacture only matters in relations to parts that fit the model year it was manufactured.

10th digit of vin is year code. 2010 is A 11 is B and so on. I and O letters are not used.
