I have used cutting oil when drilling something like that out. I usually just get a bunch of drill bits aNd start with a small one and work my way up in size.
Ever hear of a helicoil. You drill out a little oversized, then tap the hole oversized. It comes with inserts. The outside of the inserts is threaded to the oversized threads and the inside is the original threads. It comes as a complete kit, drill bit, tap, and several of the inserts, which are stainless steel. The advantage is you can bugger up the original threads pretty bad and still go back to the original thread size. Problem you still have to get the old bolt out.
