when the engine or trans dies.. she'll get another ride. we hate throwing paid for things away.. however in the case of that GM, if a nice diesel dodge or ford van comes along.. the yuk may have to convert to the farm truck..

Interior lighting can be turned on with the ignition off. I once had a similar problem and finally the vanity light inside the passenger visor was on. You also can take a multimeter with amp settings. Connect in between the negative terminal of you battery to measure a phantom load. Then start pulling fuses one at a time till the load disappears. Then determine what is one the circuit. My grandson tuned on the rear seating overhead light twice now and it ran the battery down over the coarse of a couple days. He did it in the daytime and didn't notice it right away.

We used to have Subaru Outback. If I rember it right when you opened door first and then turn the engine off the position lights stayed on and drained the battery.

I have a 1999 Suburban. It would drain the battery maybe once a year. I think it was the dome lights not auto shutting off.
I started checking it several hours after last use and a few times I would find the dome lights on. Restart and shut down and they would go off.
I never did figure out the cure.

as I said. happens so infrequently it is hard to track. I'm well aware how to find a circuit that is loaded if it does it all the time. doing it 2-3x per year. not so easy.

there might be something to check. usually when she parks for the night we never go back out till daylight. and it does have that valet light to let you get into the house.. etc.

It's aGM.. of course the cluster isn't working correctly! half the gauges are dead.
