Ice Fishing with a John Deere

The City of Portland did that last week with a new Toolcat, it made the front page of the paper. They were plowing the park duck pond for skating. They had to hire a crane to retrieve it. Along with photos of this incident was two photos with two different plow trucks in the same pond over the past 20 years. Our tax dollars at work.

They were using it as a tip-up for alligator walleyed pike!

I work for the IL DOC too, and would hate to have to explain to the warden how i deep sixed his piece of equipment!!

Wait!!! Call Washington, EPA, we have a HASMET incident, fuel, oil contaminating the water. Where are the oil barriers?

Funny but not so far from the truth!

Here in MN, there is a hefty environmental fine for allowing a vehicle to go through the ice into a lake. And it increases for every day you leave it in. I am not sure if they impose it for snowmobiles and ATV's, but would probably do so on a tractor of that size.

I re-read it once, to make sure i read the word -IN- the same pond, correctly

My salvage idea is to go out with a bunch of rope and sealed empty 50 gallon barrels. Tie the tractor to the barrels and wait for spring to float it back in.

Anyone stupid enough to take a heavy piece of equipment like that onto the ice is trolling for a Darwin award.
We already have ice fishing goofs trying to get out on Lake Erie
