I'm looking for pictures and ideas about ice fishing shacks.
I have a nice portable shack. It's the covered wagon style that collapses flat when not in use. Now that I live at the lake I would like a bit more comfort. I plan to build another that I will leave out on the lake during the season. Just big enough for two people to fish in comfort.
I'm sure design varies a lot from region to region so I'd like to see what TBNers use or have seen. Thanks.

I wish I could help ... but I can't ... the lake has yet to freeze !!

I have a 6' x 8' with 4 holes, one in each corner. The 2 to one side are under a flop down bench, so if I'm alone or with 1 onther person, we use the bench and the two holes. If I have a crowd, we flip the bench up (on hinges with hinged legs) and use all 4 with chairs. Has gas lights, stove, heat, full bar:cool:.

Makes for a nice extended stay. The bench also is wide enough to sleep on.:)

I usually set up about a mile out on the lake, the last group of pics is sunrise at -18 f with winds of about 30 mph. Too pretty to pass up, but aweful cold. When you're that far out the wind always blows, if it's windy there be sure to use typar or other house wrap and some good insulation.

Here's a couple pics of the interior, some before we finished the insulation. Makes a big difference.

Boy, you need to take that snow machine to Antique Road Show, that must be one of the first ones make.

Thanks for the pics. That looks like a serious ice shack. Big and comfortable. Is that a steel skin on it? Did you build the runners into the hut or do you have a separate set of runners to move it?
Those bogey wheeled ski doo's are great for ice fishing. Our lake often blows clear of snow.

It is actually a plastic type roofing material we bought at Home Depot. Works good. The skids are 4x4 pt bolted directly to the bottom of the shack so it is up off the ice 4".

That alpine is a '69, my other one is a '79. I use both for trail grooming. The lake doesn't freeze every year, or at least early enough for me to have time to fish it. Between plowing and fixing equipment ice fishing falls pretty low on the priority list.

Lot of beer in these pictures. Is anyone actually fishing in this shanty?
