I jacked up the rear-end of my 2009 i1042 Zero Turn Radius Cub Cadet. I disengaged both transmission with the pull-rods in the rear and locked them. Both rear wheels should be free-wheeling so the tractor can be pushed manually easily if needed. I noticed the right wheel turns freely, but the left wheel is locked or engaged like it would be in normal operation.

I just completed installing a new drive belt because the other one slipped or stuck and it burnt on the drive pulley. After I installed the drive belt and reassembled the body/dash/electrical parts, I sat on my tractor to start it. When I turned the key the headlights came on, but there was no solenoid click and no starter turning the engine. The only place I figured I might have a problem was with the two safety switches for the brake and seat since this is the only area I disturbed during belt replacement.

In tracing the brake switch I noticed the tractor would not move when I disengaged the two transmission, so I thought the brake might have locked up. But after I jacked up the rear-end and tried rotating the rear wheels by hand, only one of the wheels turned. The other was locked up.

Has anyone experience this situation? Do you think it is a brake problem or a transmission problem? Does the brake lock up the transmission? If so, is there a release to free it up again?

Information is appreciated, David Guertin Rochester, Minnesota:cool2:
