I was going to spray my fields today....not me!

I was going to borrow a sprayer from a friend of mine, until I talked to a real farmer down the road from me.........instead I had the co-op come out and spray my fields with one of these (the boom on the tractor is 90 feet!!).....

I don't know of very many farmers anymore who spray their own crops, alot of them use the local farm service or other custom applicator. Reason being the others can do it cheaper because they know what they are doing, apply the right amount (not too much, and do not overlap near as much as you would with a sprayer without GPS guidance.

It is cheaper for the big farms to do their own. They get their fields sprayed when they need it and can change their rates to suit the conditions at a moments notice. For smaller farms it is easier to use the Coop and not have to worry but then you also get things done on the Coops schedule and that isn't always a good thing

I'm such a dork that I talked the driver (Kevin) into letting me ride with him a little.....you can't appreciate how tall that thing is until your up in it......it also has airbag suspension and the sweetest suspension chair I've ever seen......... and with that wheel base it was like ridding in a caddy! too cool!!!
