I have zero interest in the plastic, that was enough for me, I do collision work for a living, I see too much plastic as it is.

Not to bash the brand but there were alot of things I did notice that I thought screamed save a dollar.

I havent signed any papers yet but I was approved today for the Kubota and it looks like Im going that way.

I hate to break it to you, but we have three Kubota's and they all have plastic on them... What model Kubota are you looking at?

As an XJ owner, I've seen the gentleman's video. Many people getting into this size tractor are newbies at what keeps them rolling. I didn't feel that he was being misleading, though some things were just odd and easily things that are part of the experience of owning farm equipment. You WILL have to be watchful, make adjustments and repairs as none of these are fined tuned as a Lexus and are not used generally in a friendly environment. His XJ wasn't a lemon. He under bought for his needs. He understands the power of social media. I watched one of his recent videos on the replacement tractor and sure can sense his frustration though. You see regen issues on tractors of any color. They seem like nice folks and I hope they get it worked out. To the OP I wish you a good ride on whatever you decide on. I assume that there isn't a tractor out there that will generally treat you well if you return the favor. Researching an item like a tractor can be daunting. This forum is a good place to start. Plas62 was an XJ owner that blew me away with what one of these can do. Likewise Kubota and Deere have their champions here and elsewhere too. The wife made the final decision as it is really her ride. Her reasoning on the backhoe was the swivel seats were uncomfortable and likes the separate seat. I like the SSQA and some days the forks and bucket get swapped around a half a dozen times on a work day. I also like the larger rear wheels than the base models of a Deere or Kubota for the creek flats. Pricing was about 19 if I recall for the TLB.

I know the cowl on mine is plastic, as far as main body parts I think that is all. 2501

Over my lifetime I have owned or used the following brands for farming or personal use, Case, Case Construction, Case-IH, International, Ford, New Holland, John Deere, John Deere Construction, Claas, Caterpillar, Kubota. There has been some great tractors or equipment in all brands and there has been some that have plain sucked and was glad to get rid of. Sometimes you just shake your head at some poor designs and poor reliability of a certain piece of equipment. Others, are so well built that you run them forever. The people who think that “Their Brand” of Tractor makes no tractors with problems or lemons have their heads in the sand. The people on here who it get the most upset if someone says something bad about their brand, are also usually the ones that are most secretive about their location and their experience. Every company out there makes some great products and some poor ones that are hard to keep going. Nobody is 100% perfect on all their models. Each company has models that have become thorns in their sides. I currently own a Kubota and really like it. I know that they have some models that they have had issues with particularly the B3350. The reason I went with Kubota is the dealer is 4 miles down the road, has great service, been in business for 60+/- years and are good people. Over the last 10-15 years, some of the newer foreign brands have established dealers around but most of them last a couple years and are gone with the new tractor owners without any support.

I have saved so much time and money just watching others do something I need to do, I have no idea why so many people take the time to post video's of fixing things or whatever it might be but it sure is helpful.

Video's have made it possible for me to buy parts for things online, (washing machine, anything really) and fix it without calling anyone. Not ALL people that post video's do it well but for the most part they do a good job and watching them before you attempt to do something it valuable.

I would agree that the fellow in the video bought way too little tractor for what he was trying to do. The XJ isn't a bad tractor for someone that only needs a smaller tractor. Yes, it has a lot of plastic on it, but that is also reflected in the price. It isn't as though anyone is trying to hide that point. I personally don't like that much plastic, but at the same time my pickup has plastic bed-sides and it hasn't been a problem over the 18 years I've owned it. Mechanically and footprint-wise the XJ has some things going for it verses other subcompact 25 hp tractors. Having a longer and wider footprint and those larger rear tires could be a real advantage if you are operating it on more rugged terrain.

One of the main reasons I stopped watching TV is because they spent too little time on things I wanted to know and too much time on things I didn't. They tend to emphasize what THEY want you to see and gloss over everything else. From the comments, that appears to be the case here. Apparently the guy is on a rant without really seeming to know how the machine is supposed to work.

As stated before, I prefer written information that I can read at will, coupled with static pictures I can magnify and/or crop as necessary, then print and take out to the machines with me. I can also go back over it as often as I need to without having to watch all the irrelevant stuff again, trying to zero in on the few bits I need.
