MF 1540 4wd,loader, R-4s
Does anyone else think New Holland should reproduce or revise the old Ford -New Holland tractors??? I don't really care for the new TC's so, I thought it would be nice if they would make a new version of the 1520.
If anyone else feels this way send an e-mail to New Holland about it like I did.
Attached is a photo of a 1520 4wd.

Have you looked at the TC30? Looks like a 1720 to me.

Yes, but it is just too big for me. The 1520 would be both just the right size in HP and overall size.

I need it to mow the lawn and do some bladeing and bushhogging.

I love my 1920 and do not prefer the look / feel of the tc's... I was considering trading up to a 2120.. but they are rare around these parts. I have however considered a 3010s.. nice for an economy tractor, and close to a 2120, if you use your imagination a little.

I think the 3010S would make a great field tractor but they don't offer a shuttle shift on them so loader work would be slower until you have the transmission "trained" for the forward-reverse shifts. On the NH site they list the 3010S seperately from the 56,66 &7610S models and I never understood why. Outside of North America they still sell a 4x10S model to complete the line up. I've seen alot of them out on construction sites and mowing for the county. Up close they look like good solid machines without all the bells and whistles that you see on the newer tractors. No plastic eather!

From what I was told, the 3010s is specifically an economy tractor, made to compete with a certain massey fergusion model, and that is why it is listed seperate.

as for loader work vs the tranny... ( personally ) I don't use a loader, and prefer the gear tranny.. but then I use alot of ground engaging implimints, and want as much hp to the wheels as I can, without a relief valve int he way... just my opinion, though, as most prefer the shuttly/hydro trannies.

That's what I was meaning when I said "field Tractor". Lots of laps at a set speed for mowing, discing, baler, etc.

Hmmmm. "a certain MF model" at 42 HP would we be looking at a head to head match up with a MF 231?

Perhaps... sounds right.. he told me, but I wasn't sure, when I wrote this.

But apparently, the 3010s is sopposed to be the price competition model.. and is lacking a few features. For instance, its dash is much plainer than say.. my 1920... etc.
But it is quite a decent looking tractor imho.
