So, broke my seat on my PT today. On the 1850 there is a Hydraulic ram that levels the seat when you are on slopes (well, any 1800 series owner will tell you it chuck you around on flat terrain and takes forever to right itself on slopes but supposedly it works). Anyway, the lower bracket that holds ram snapped off. Looked like a fresh break. Took an hour to weld it all back but now looking at Jenny Craig.

Hmmm......... last year I "stretched" the spring that holds my seat "up" on my tractor. I'm not too fat - - the spring was just too weak. Put on a HD spring and now all is well.

It not that you weigh too much.... its that you jump into the PT seat with such exuberance!

Well put, MossRoad!

But it's not you, or the seat that's the problem... it's vibration. That's the #1 'bugbear' of mechanical/electrical fault-finders.

My tilt seat has been working very well since I fixed the steering cylinders.

So kinda figured out why the piece snapped. I stump grind with the machine, and due to the design I find myself leaning out of he side of the cab to watch the spinning blade of death. I feel me basically sitting on one corner of the seat probably contributes "heavily" to the situation.

Rebuilding steering wheel cylinders is now on my once every three year repair cycle.

Do you think that there might be something else going on if you are having to rebuild the cylinders every three years?

Curious,

I think they just wear out. I never looked to see how well honed mine are... could be an issue there. But they are not very well made

Just asking. I'm on ~800 hours/9 years on the first set.

All the best,

I will be interested if you were to tear them apart how good the o rings are. One seal always seems to have failed, the other just janging on.
