A new 2009 BX1860, turf tires and 54" mower, 0 down and 60 payments of maybe $180/month for 60 months...~$10,800 total.
----OR----
2002 BX1800, 205 hours, used only for suburban mowing, looks like new, with turf tires and 54" mower for $5700 (I can pay cash).
Got a call today from Brady Barlow on the new machine. His price beats my local dealer by $2,000. This machine will be used less than 100 hours per year, for mowing and light towing. I'll leave the grunt work to the BX25.
I guess it really comes down to whether a new machine is worth any extra 5K. The financing is what makes it attractive...or maybe seductive is a better word. It makes things easier in the short term, but it is still $5,000 !!
I guess you never really know what you get with a used machine...then again, it is a Kubota.
OK boys, let's see how persuasive you are on either side of the argument.
