I'm new here - 1st thread - 1st post - been lurking - very confused, except I do know ya'll can help me spend on a tractor:D :D .

I'm buying a 2.4 acre piece of sloped old farmland property and will have to mow an additional 0.8 acre "dry" retention pond with as much as 45deg slopes. I will also be building a shed with slab and "farming" 1/2 acre (did this as a kid but with hand tools - too old for that now).

Being a "Hogg" I want a CUT (or SCUT) with a mmm & FEL to start and will be adding a tiller, blade and backhoe later, maybe more later.

I have red, orange, yellow & green within 20 miles of new house and lot.

I'd perfer to pay cash and not finance:mad: so i'll need to purchase stuff as I save.

What suprised me is SO approves of purchase:).

I do have time since it won't happen until early july.

thank you for haelping me.

Bob

Mornin Radioflyerto,
Welcome to TBN ! Lots of great people on here willing to help you spend your money ! :) If I were you I would start reading on all the tractor sites that your interested in . Kubota, New Holland etc and start asking specific questions. How much HP, features, price etc and you will get plenty of answers to filter through. When you start to narrow down your search start going to those dealers in your area and evaluate your self.

Good luck ! And have fun doing it !

When deciding to buy a tractor you need to know what your needs are and what your willing to live with. For example, I move dirt, plow snow, plow the garden, mow 6 acres each week, grade, blade etc. so I opted to go with a 25hp CUT to get things done quicker. I could have gotten by with a SCUT, but, they simply don't have the weight or torque to do the ground engaging chores I ask from a tractor. A SCUT could work, but would take a lot more time to do the same job.

When it comes to color, well, it's all about $$. I will tell you that I bleed JD Green, BUT, my last 2 CUT's have been New Holland and Kioti. Why, because of $$. JD wanted more for a used 4200 than I paid for a new Kioti CK25. Now there are all kinds of arguments as to why you should buy one color or another, but to me it boils down to the dollar. I do draw the line however at those super cheap CUT's that some of the chains are selling, the price is great, but the quality, and service isn't.

Radio, seems like you have all the TBN language down. Im sure any one of those local dealers will give you a heck of a deal if you show them the cash!

Welcome to TBN Bob. I live just east of Harrisburg so its good to have another PA guy here. I live on 2 flat acres that is 95% clear. I have owned a Kubota bx1500 (15hp diesel scut) for about 6 months now. I love this little machine. I have an FEL, 54" MMM, rear blade and Box blade. The FEL is very handy for material handling and the MMM leaves a great looking yard (not to mention I can mow fast):D .

Buying a SCUT may enable you to get your backhoe from the get go. There are plenty of SCUT owners in this forum who can vouch for their machines capabilities.

Just start searching around TBN and ask as many questions as you want. Good luck.:)

A lot of the dealers are offering 0% financing. That is FREE money! Look for that as you search for your tractor. If you find one with the 0%, you can buy your implements with your cash and rather than saving for implements, you'll be using them. Take the money you would have been saving to buy them to pay for the tractor. It is a win win situation for you.

Mowing 45 degree slopes raises the red flag. That is steep and not many compact tractors will do it. You may want to consider plantings with ground cover so you do not have to mow. Otherwise, you may end up getting into specialized, expensive equipment to mow that small but steep area.
