Hi,
I bought a used Howse bush hog. The button on the PTO was stuck in, so the shaft would just slide off the splines. I freed it up last night with a lot of heat. I believe there is a pin holding it in, but it almost looks like part of the casting. I cleaned it up with a file, but I was only able to deform it a bit with a punch. Used a lot of heat abad penetrant to shock it and nothing.
spring and pin are shot. Never used a PTO that didn’t have the locking ring before. I believe the pin is the one that looks like an hour glass, it’s a 1/2” diameter. There is NO opening on the opposite side.
I found exactly one thread, on here, that mentioned an older Howse oem pto shaft having a brass pin that was almost invisible.
Tried hitting the locking shaft in and hitting it out. Just nothing. Really put a beating on that pin too.
Thank You! Austin
