I would like to add to the front of my canopy, as I frequently have to drive a one mile stretch on asphalt road. would it be useless because of vibration?

Any other ideas about how, what kind, etc? Should I make something from a bicycle mirror??

Maybe an old school bus mirror, it would be bigger and maybe have heavier supports to dampen vibration some, plus may have the additional bling spot mirror on it.

For the bicycle mirror you wear a cycling helmet and mount a mirror on it or get a mirror that will attach to your glasses if you wear glasses.

One of the rear viewing monitors may also be a though.

Of course your local tractor dealer or automotive/truck supply store may have a bolt on mirror in stock.

Local car wreckers yard may also be a place to look.:D

But whatever you choose do not even think about trying out your wifes handheld vanity mirror!:)

I went to the junk yard and got a sun visor from big car with a mirror in it. Mounted it to the canopy. Now I have a sun visor and mirror. It can be flipped up when not needed. I also mounted 2 convex mirrors on the ends of the visor. I can see the outside edges of the brush cutter and be looking forward. I think it works good. Kidney

Thats a great idea. I was looking at golf cart mirrors and boat ski mirrors too. Gotta make something work.

I think school bus mirror or big truck type mirrors may have brackets that mount in 2 locations instead of 1 like some mirrors so I was thinking this may be better for the vibration concern you have, not sure, but seems that if a mirror only had 1 bracket or post, it may vibrate more. Of course the best advice you'll get is from someone who has already installed and has been using mirror(s) - maybe someone will see this thread and report on it. Let us know if you install one and how it worked out, and pictures!

A lot depends on what one wants to spend.... One can save $$ by buying at a junk yard, but one will spend fuel going there and time running to get it.. Don't forget T & M fitting it up to work horizontal.

On the other hand, this is a common mirror used on construction equipment... One should be able to shop the net and find one.

From another thread. This is how I did mine. I used motorcycle mirrors mounted on a frame i had added for my canopy to make it stronger. I just tapped some holes and threaded them in

Dave

Finally have some time to post a few mods. Adding mirrors are very handy. I had a few leftover dirt bike mirrors that I added to the new metal canopy reinforcing frame. I tapped and just threaded them in. They work great and aren't too big although I have already hit my head a few times getting on/off not watching.

The more fun one was adding lights to the same bar which should prove very handy for nighttime winter plowing during those short winter days. Mounted high they should give great light. These are high impact tractor flood lights so the description says. They looked quite rugged. Mounting them on the bar as well by drilling holes through and running the wires to a switch which I mounted on the panel beside the other light switches where there was a blank and them powered from the fuse box. They worked great. The pics are before being wired up

Not a mod but very nice addition I got from our everything store in Canada (Princess Auto). The padded seat cover goes over existing seat and has convenient pockets on the back for gloves, rags, lunch etc.

Personally I think the 6" to 8" convex mirrors found in most truck stops like TA (Travel America) for example are the ticket. Seems the convex mirrors don't amplify the vibration as much as a flat mirror. Attached are some picks of my Mirrors attached to the fiberglass canopy of my Jinma 354.

I like them so much I later added a set to my Dozer.....
The closer you put them to you, the less you see yourself in the reflection.

Those look like just what I need - now all I need is a truck stop down here.

I'll have to look online, I guess.

Thats exactly the setup I need. I bought a "clip on" wide rear view mirror, that isnt going to work on the tractor, but worked fine on my car.

I checked if there was a TA or Travel America website, there was not.

I go up an down I-75 a lot, I know theres a few truck stops in the georgia portion. Perhaps I will try there.

Did that mount come with your mirror or did you fashion that yourself? Application looks very good to me.

The mirrors came with those "L" brackets you might have noticed. I added rubber grommets between both sides of the "L" bracket for vibration dampening and to absorb the "occasional" scraping up against tree branches. I haven't had any issues with vibration, the image is very steady even on my dozer where I did not use the rubber grommets.

So I went to the net, entered 8" convex mirror and up comes Amazon with the identical mirror you have...with the L bracket....!!!

And only $12 with free shipping too. This is good.

Funny I was thinking bikes, golf carts, not tractor trailer stuff. I intend to install only one on the exhaust stack side, cause I have to mow right up next to orange trees.

Thanks for making me think that way. I will order one and post a pic of my installation.
