Kubota L3400 HST
I am going to Tulsa in a couple of weeks. My wife wanted to learn how to drive the tractor in case we have a heavy snow.

After "Working" with it for a little bit she commented "This is easy;) ".

I can't complain about my chores anymore. :(

"Your" chores? They aren't yours any more. As Derek said get another one. It's now the only way you'll get any seat time.

SeeeeEEEEE? This is where HST gets you. When they find out it's easy, the women take over.

Young TBN hatchlings and newbies, take heed. Observe the fallen state of brother Racer and remember well this sorry spectacle. Were it not for the siren whine of HST, he could still be manfully grinding gears and clutching whilst listening to his Kubota purr.

Instead, he now languishes at the keyboard as his mate 'mans' the helm of the mighty 'Bota. One can only guess what further indignities the future holds for our once illustrious Bro.

I can hear it now...

"Your Wife: Honey looks like we had quite a blow last night. I guess I'd better get out there and clear the drive so you can go grocery shopping. When you get back, please wash the dishes and fix dinner, 'cause I'll still be out there leveling the pad for the new garage.

You: Yes dear."

I hope you like house work; 'cause your time on that Kubota is now limited to when your wife is out of town or feeling sorry for you :)

I guess thats one good thing about owning a gear tractor that's old enough for the labels to be gone... she'll never figure out what all the levers are for ;) of course her eyes glazed over as soon as I tried to explain that you can't shift on the fly :D

I bet you will be OK in the long run..She was fine, driving it around on a cool day, sun shining, no snow in the face. Wait till she spends a couple hours in the CCCCold cussing like a sailor, because the darn snow keeps drifting back! Just make sure you're sitting in the house in shorts, sipping hot tea when she comes in!!:D

Yep, I have a couple of friends running.

I do love all of the replys. We'll see if she is willing to start plowing at 5:00 am though.

Yep, you made the big mistake ... only one way out! You gonna have to create some complicated tractor work that requires a skilled operator, forget it, in the second picture she looked skilled! Man ... I'll look around here and when my wife has her back turned I try to sneak one of her aprons out!!! If you get house duty ya gonna need it!!!

what a problem to have. While I was baking oatmeal chocolate chip cookies this afternoon I quipped to my wife about your "situation" as in hint hint, woman's work and she says "in your dreams". So I quietly wash the dishes and slip outside to plug in the block heater so I can dig out tomorrow morning before I go to work and she goes to the mall....

Yep, I had the same problem! Wife wouldn't touch the Oliver, (6 speed, weird shift pattern) but occasionally drove the Deere and Yanmar. One day she dumped the yanmar on its side, and survived with only a bruised ego, so I decided to buy a B3030 with HST.
Haven't been able to get to use that Kubota much yet, she always gets to it before me!
Word of advice guys, get a manual shift tractor if you really want to maximize your seat time!
Just kidding, we both love the B3030, now we're looking for another larger unit.

A neighbor owns a BX-24 and let my wife drive his tractor. After weeks of hinting that we needed a tractor that went ignored, one session on his tractor and she asked me why we didn't have a tractor yet? A few days later we ordered an L-3400. I haven't had to fight her for seat time yet since we have lots of snow but I know when the weather warms up I might be in charge of the wheel-barrow again.

So funny., my wife hated the old seat on the BX 24, now that we have a new one she on it all the time! And I get yelled at if I leave it out doors, she likes it parked in the barn so the "seat does not get wet"! FYI I do cover it with a tarp when the barn is full of other toys...excuse me tools!!:D

I have a geared L2800,463 loader. My wife asked how to operate it. Came in from hunting to find her moving topsoil into her flower bed. when I asked if she was having a good time she replied yes and wanted to know were was the extra key. She wanted the key to put on her key ring!
