I bought my 2004 Silverado X-cab New and still love the truck! It still looks new.
I am at 105K miles and the gauges on the instrument panel are failing.
Googling I found out there was a silent recall after a lawsuit.
It seems GM was supplied with inferior "step motors" for the gauges from 03-06.
BUT, the recall only covers 7 years or 70k miles. After that they cover the gauges but not the labor.
After googling I found replacement new type step motor set (6) with new light bulbs on ebay for $16.00 and u-tube instructions on how to replace the motors.
It is fairly simple to replace them if you can solder.
So if you are cussing that bad gauge there is a repair!
