Everyone should understand that we are not equal and never will be.

It is easy for one that knows, to chastise or condemn someone about small stuff.

Some of you think that grammar is higher education, but really, if you can understand what someone is trying to say, then let it be. That person may be set in his or her ways, and nothing you say is going to change that.

I am not proud when I make a mistake, and someone points it out, and I might not even know it until some one with higher learning says different.

I have to use spell checker all the time, and if I didn't, you would think poorly of me, thinking I am ignorant.

I don't even mind caps, is that really yelling, really now. The grammar police are watching.

Whenever I recall one of my post and see the red underline, I think how in the he** did I miss that.

Sometimes, I really don't know how to spell a word or spell check does not catch it.

I have tried to correct the mindset of some people about some things, but some did not appreciate it, and some did.

I really don't think it is appropriate to ask a bad speller to correct his mistakes. They probably don't know how, or don't want to.

Those that can write and speak well, I applaud you and hope you are happy with your learning.

Just don't condemn those that are less fortunate.

I did spend some time spell checking this post and hope it is correct, so I hope someone doesn't chastise me or forbid me my supper if they find mistakes. .

Has anyone ever asked someone to correct their grammar or they will not read their material?

This post should end as you are probably not going to make a good speller out of even a few people.

I could probably do a little better, but I don't think I want to, just to please someone.

JJ....I ditto everything you wrote....You are exactly right....I too depend of spell check...I don't know how to spell every word....who does ? I do enjoy reading your posts helping folks with all kinds of hydraulic problems and giving a lot of other information on equipment etc.

That's all JJ....I agree and thanks.

Yep. Me too.

Sometimes when I think somebody wrote something a bit confused, when I think about it more and come back, I find I understand it better.

Some of you think that grammar is higher education...

Not trying to get chased down a rabbit hole on this...but almost all of the poor English, lack of grammar etc. etc...that is common here are things that should have been learned in elementary and middle schools...

IMO if someone claims to actually have some "higher education" (post k-12) and they still make word form etc. errors...it is a fairly good assumption they are fibbing about said "higher education"

Nobody ever made it through English 101 by not knowing the difference between your, you're or there, their and they're etc...etc...personally I find it very hard to take someone that does not know the difference seriously...maybe it's just a peeve of mine but when reading a post with improper word forms it is like bells and whistles going off...

Poor spelling is another issue entirely and is insignificant IMO...

I guess I have to apologize for not getting a good education, as I know they tried.

I just was not into learning much of anything, and my grades reflected that.

You know the little boy Johnny that was always pissing people off, that was me. I had my butt whipped many many times for not listening and playing around. I even put magazines in my pants, because I just knew they were going to beat my a**.

Do you really think it done me any good. I wasn't very interested in anything way back then.

Now, just the opposite I am on the computer about 8 to 10 hrs a day doing research, looking at things I have never seen or just want to know about. I wished I had paid attention, as my world might be different now.

If it pisses anybody off when reading my post about grammar or punctuation, then so be it.

I just can't help how anyone feels about my language skills. If you are talking about punctuation, I may not ever be able to fix that. Me and spell checker, I need it.

I feel that I put out data in everyday language that anyone can read. I put this data out as best as I can interpret it. Notice, I did not say that people would understand everything I say.

I wish i could please you all, but alas, it is what it is. You either have to accept it or there is a way to not see my post. I am sure I am on some ones ignore list, but ask me if I care.

Will you all go back to school and learn the stuff you missed out on so we can all get along.

Don't regret your mistakes... they made you who you are today.

As for my posts; english is my 2nd language, so I'm sorry if I get some of it wrong.

I don't think JJ, NS, or others have anything to apologize for. The forum is a tremendous source of down to earth technical knowledge and hard won experience, on many topics. That is what is important.
