So, I put on a new throttle cable (night and day difference) but the throttle to stick, slowly the throttle drops back, usually to around 1800 or so. I can see the throttle moving, so it is not any bigger issue than the linkage. Any idea on what to and not to tighten? Don't want to over do it.

On my 1845 the tension adjustment is on the base of the lever on the instrument panel. I have to remove an access panel to get to it.

Base of the lever under the dash. You aren't talking the nut and bolt that hold the lever to the main plate are you?

No, I am talking about a screw or bolt (it has been a while and I don't remember the specifics) that increases the tension on the pivot point of the lever that controls the throttle cable.

Carl, it is the pair of 9/16" (I think) bolt/nut that the throttle lever rotates around. You can see one end peering through the throttle slot in the dash. That's your goal. You can tighten it from under the dash (tight), or you can pull the upper panel. You need it tighter, but bear in mind that it will loosen up a little in use, so you want it stiff when you first tighten it.

All the best,

Peter

Dear Carl,

My bad, it's 7/16" nut and bolt, so you need two wrenches. I usually put a thin wrench in through the throttle slot and use a socket wrench either from below, or take of the upper plate behind the dash.

All the best,

Peter
