They're not to protect yourself, they are to keep you from spreading the infection to others. If you don't care, that's on you.

so, you've been spreading your germs /infections on people all these years. Now, somehow it's different, and you don't want to spread your germs /infections on others anymore ?
Just trying to figure out why all of a sudden, it now matters to you about spreading your germs/infections on others, when you've been doing it for years ?
Seems strange spreading your germs /infections to others, never mattered until now..

Today is day 10 of having Covid and it's the first day that I feel noticeably better. I still have pressure on my skull, my joints are still achy and my muscles still feel worn out, but not as bad as they have been. I haven't had a fever in a week now, and overall, the most common issue has just been fatigue. My wife lost her sense of smell and taste, but overall, she is doing a lot better then I am with energy and strength. We had a few cookies last night and she found the chocolate mint to be the most surprising. She said that she could tell it was mint by how her mouth reacted to it, but the overall taste was disgusting to her. She isn't eating like she should because she can't enjoy the food, and then she gets over hungry and has to force herself to eat.

We've both enjoyed and appreciated everyone's well wishes and wanted to say thank you for taking the time to post them.

Merry Christmas

I've been saying since this started, that many of the things we are being told are things which my mother taught me when I first started to walk. "Cover your mouth when you cough", "Wash your hands". "Don't go out in public when you are sick." Why did it take a health crisis to make people start listening? Why are some people still not listening?

I don't know why they aren't listening.. Have you always worn a mask, even before covid ? If not, why not ?
If not, Then You've been spreading your germs, and infecting people with what ever you had for years.

I guess if someone had worn a mask, I wouldn't have gotten covid.. I wasn't sick, so There was no need for me to wear a mask. They should have worn one, because their droplets came out and infected me.

I also find it odd that football players can line right up across from each other, breath, spit, or what ever on each other and no mask. But it's all ok because we love our football !

There must be an excuse for this somewhere...LOL

When this whole thing started they said it was not necessary for the public to wear masks. Masks were only needed for medical staff back then. Now masks are stockpiled in warehouses and somebody has to pay for them, so everybody needs to wear masks. I would agree that everybody should wear masks when in close contact. Makes it suspicious though when the government changes the rules as they go along.

The masks are to keep you from coughing droplets out into the air. You wear them to protect others, not yourself. ;)

Your statement is 100% correct, but most who do wear a mask THINK they are protecting themselves.

That's not true of the folks in my area. There is a general recognition that we are wearing masks for the common good. (Though in a lot of cases, including my own, wearing a mask has a side benefit of reminding me not to touch my face when out in public - so there is an indirect benefit to me in wearing a mask.)

We weren't faced with a pandemic that is overwhelming our hospitals before this. Yes, there was some ignorance and/or selfishness involved as well. Other countries, such as Japan have long had a culture of wearing a mask when out in public when they are sick. In a lot of those cases, you were not highly contagious until you started showing symptoms, so using the "I don't feel so well" gauge was a decent indicator. That is not a good indicator with this disease.

I realize this topic has drifted from wishing Eddie and his wife well. -- I do wish you and your family and friends a speed and complete recovery and the best of health going forward, Eddie.

I am encouraged that we seem to be able to have a calm, thoughtful discussion of the topic without it degenerating into insults, name calling, and general unfounded BS. YAY TBN!

I've backed off the Covid discussion because I want this thread to stay open, and hear how Eddie is doing. As I mentioned previously, it's the first time there's been a discussion where people who actually have had it tuned in. One interesting way to tell if you have had it, is by giving blood. They will test for the antibodies and you can find out in about 2 weeks.

Eddie I had a co-worker that had an Akita. If he was working at night he would bring it in once in a while. My kids were pretty little and if I went in at night my son would always say is the guy with the doggy with the big feet going to be there? They are neat dogs. Continued good luck in the recovery.

I always enjoy hearing stories about Akita's!!! We just found out that Matsu was ranked number 12 American Akita in AKC this year. That's 2 years in a row that he has been on of the top 20 Akita's and he is only 3 years old. He barely showed this year due to Covid, but when he did go out, he did very well. We also only hit a couple of really big shows, which is where all the points are at. Win a big show and get lots of points, win a small show and you might not even get a single point. Matsu also beat the number one Akita 2 out of 3 times, so that added a lot to his total score for the year.

Today seems to be worse then the last couple of days. Might be that I didn't sleep very well last night. My back has broken out in hives and it's very itchy. Another Covid issue that came out of nowhere, for nor apparent reason, just to annoy me. Legs are totally worn out today, and all I've done is walk across my house a few times. Probably the most common issue that comes and goes is how my head feels all fuzzy and off. I'm not dizzy, or light headed, but it's almost like the air is different around my skull and it weighs more then normal air.

We are getting lots of compliments from our Akita friends about Matsu making it into the top 20 again this year. Here is one of his "Show" pictures with a Group 2 placement. You have to have a Group 1 win to compete for Best in Show, and so far, he hasn't done that yet. As a Grand Champion, he's probably gone as far as he needs to, but we might still show him from time to time just for fun. We are more focused on his daughter right now, who will be going out in 2 weeks. She just turned 10 months old and she has only been to one show so far. She did OK. We think she should have done better, and for the next show we are going with a new professional handler. Our previous one seems to have lost interest in us and she only put in the minimal effort, but asked for the full amount for her services even though my wife was there helping out and doing a lot of the work for her.

No, It's all about those $$'s.
Team owners need the revenue.
No games, no ticket sales and no TV revenue.

I think the difference is all the players are tested numerous times per week. If they test positive, they plus all contract tracing players can’t play.

The theory is only those players known to be negative (via testing) can play.

It makes sense in theory assuming the tests are correct and you can’t spread the virus if you test negative.

It is really amazing that the college football season happened and not one player got very sick or died. In fact, the Baylor QB’s life was probably saved as testing somehow discovered a heart condition needing treatment.

I wear my mask when appropriate, but the very common phrase "wear your mask in public" is idiotic!

My public, and your public may be 100 - 500 yards away from someone else.

If I am working in the woods, am I going to pass it on to the squirrels?

My other pet peeve is those people wearing them over their mouth, and not over their nose, and then looking down said noses to people not wearing them at all......

   / I got the Covid #158
My pet peeve is "big money" says it's alright for them. But we should close down. Football. Walmart. Etc., etc.

Eddie hope your on the tail end of this. Thanks for starting this thread. I always said if I got it I would do just what you've done. Thanks!!!!

Maybe not... First time ever San Jose University seated in a bowl game and Santa Clara county Health Dept has forbidden Bowl Games as essential... so no go???

Eddie I hope you and your wife continue to recover.

The problem in my state is the fellow who signs the executive orders that we should wear masks keeps getting photoed in close contact with others at parties and such with no mask while demanding the general population wear masks. You cannot blame people when they question his orders.

I wear a mask when I go in a store and such but the second I’m outside it comes off. These masks have taught me a couple of things: I really like to breath and I hate trying to live life looking through foggy glasses.
