I have been pondering a new hand gun for a while and the "what is the best gun if you can only have one" thread really got me back in the new gun mood. After a ton of research and 3 hours test firing tons of guns I finally pulled the trigger on a Kimber Pro CDP II. This is the custom shot version in .45acp. It has ambidextrous safeties Meprolight night sights, and an aluminum frame. About 28 oz. empty. First thoughts on the gun are very impressive. I have been able to run about 80 rounds through the gun since I picked it up (at 10:00 this morning) and it is really a pleasure to shoot.

Since I could not buy a new L45 this year I decided that this would be a good second.

Nice!

Get yourself some Tripp magazines for it & enjoy. I've put around 4k rounds thru my Crimson Carry Pro without any problems, once I got thru the break in.

Nice gun. Kimber makes some very nice pistols. I have been looking at and wanting the Kimber Super Carry Pro for a while. My wife keeps telling me that now is not a good time. I guess we have too much other stuff going on right now to buy another gun. I will have it one day though.

Well. It was either let my buy a new gun or put down money on a new L and then have payments for 5 years.

I bought 2 of the kimtech pro mags when I bought the gun. Is there really a difference in 1911 mags?

I would love a set of crimson trace but I'm lefty and when I grip the gun I cover the light.
I emailed them yesterday to ask about a lefty grip

Here's to hoping

Honestly, I think the laser is "cool" but I don't shoot with it, your movement is exaggerated and I seem to concentrate on the laser instead if the sights. One thing I learned about my Kimber is that you need to keep it clean, after a hundred rounds or so it fails to return to battery but that thing is super accurate. I was hitting a gong plate (2X2) at 100 yards which says a lot for a 4 inch barreled pistol.

Yep, awesome gun. I bought the same pistol 9 years ago and been carrying "her" for 8 years. She doesn't like cheap ammo. The cheap ammo was given to me as part of the CHL renewal course I took. I wouldn't trust my life to cheap ammo. I do want to get Kimber to put a shorter trigger on mine.
hugs, Brandi
