I spent 3 months last summer cutting and clearing trees alone. No one was within 1/2 most of the time. Even the phone signal was spotty at best.

Getting the RV connected to the septic (and approved) was nice but honestly, getting electricity made me really feel like I was back in civilization.
Apple and Google have me pinpointed correctly and that is important if there is a need for 911. So, for that reason, I was excited to get that post in the ground.

I am now in the Kool-aid phase. (Just add water) Well is 12-14 weeks out.

I would be cautious. The county assigned my street address - way back when. Now - look it up on any internet mapping system. The "arrow" is approximately 300 feet North of my actual driveway. Maybe that's why many call - saying they are lost.

You are lucky. Mine on google is 7 miles from where they think it is. That is odd as the address are assigned based on miles to the hundredth from the start of the road, thus I am 42 iles and a few hundredths north of the start of the state highway. I have checked a few others and almost NONE are correct on google.

Here, they assign an address based on the previous house and add 2 digits per 5.28ft Surely they hired a noble scholar and a Ph.d to arrive at such a number. And they didn't assign it to where the house will be but rather where the barn is now. Not perfect but they will see the smoke or hear me screaming like a 3 year old if I'm hurt.

Congrats! We're looking forward to posting our own marker and mailbox soon on the 30 acres in the mountains around Lake Lure, NC. Builder backed out in August last year due to losing some crews due to Covid and supply issues, have new builder I trust now.

I was able to assign my own and I went with the house number where Google Maps said I was. It's spot on that way.

Sorry you experienced that but maybe a blessing or so it sounds.

I have 4 general contractors available in my area. 1 said, sure thing, will get at it in 2023. 2 are slow to react or call back. 1. Seems pretty on top of things and I like him but he is always too busy to stop in and look around to discuss. I signed myself up for GC class in 6 six weeks. I won't sit here for a year waiting on the phone to ring. I am good at project management so my plan is to buy materials well in advance and have materials in the barn ready for the next step at all times. If I keep after them and catch them with supply chain issues, hoping I can hire their crew while they wait. At least, that is my plan.

which reminds me of a joke.

How do you make God laugh?

Tell him about all your plans.

I spent 30 years doing school maintenance and one year we decided to stockpile lumber for an upcoming project. When the bands were cut on those units of dimensional lumber they warped so badly that most was unusable. Also, none of the plywood turned out to be square.

Hopefully, you can get better quality of lumber to stockpile.

When I first bought my property, two houses were on it owned by members of the same family and they had one address XX21 and one mailbox. I wanted my own mailbox as my business gets lots of mail.

I looked up "how to change my address" and I had to jump through more hoops than you can imagine with both local, state and federal bureaucracies. Too busy to fool with all these technicalities, I just put a mailbox in front and wrote XX25 on it and gave everyone my new address as xx25. Magically I started getting all my mail in my new mailbox. But when I went to get the utilities turned on I had to give special instructions as to where it actually was. Now, 20 years later, my utilities are still billed as being at XX21 but my mailing address for my bills is XX25.

Now when I need service I have to watch when the truck comes by looking for XX21 because it no longer exists since I bought that property at a later date and tore that house down. When I see the truck looking for my address I have to flag them down and explain the situation. The utility companies refuse to change my address in their records.

Google Maps was good about correcting my location per my address. Forgot the details but "edit your map" then "add an address" looks like it would work.
