Kubota B2620
I did engine oil and oil filter change today on Kubota B2620. Bought in 2013, has 250 hours. Apparently this is the first oil filter change bc the attached filter was grey. Probably the 1st oil change also, I sent it for service in 2015 but not sure what exactly they did. Well, I poured the new oil without putting the drain plug back. After I realized, I put the drain plug back and poured the rest pint or so oil. Ok this is the stupid part, I drove the tractor for about 30 feet. No load, nothing. I just wanted to park it. I finally found another gallon 15W-40 and put them in and ran the tractor, mowed for about 10 minutes and I think it ran just fine. Prior to draining oil, I used the tractor for mowing for 5 minutes. Do you think tractor is Ok? I told hubby what I did and he was really mad!! Thank you!

Personally I expect you are going to be fine. The tractor crank and rod bearings should have had oil in them from the 5 minutes of use before the oil change.

started it and drove 30'? Probably didn't do significant damage, but for sure not a good thing to do to the engine. Tractor data says the oil capacity is 3.2 quarts, did you put a whole gallon on top of the pint you had in there? That might be a bigger issue.

It's not the distance!

It's the time the engine was running. two or three minutes?

If you had "SLICK' engine treatment in, you could have driven around the block ;-) or so the adds suggest.

The fact that you mowed for ten minutes after putting in fresh oil bodes well.
I would be angry too, but accepting...

Agree.

Evitin,
What is the level on the dipstick?

Illucidate

What engine harm comes from over filling a crank case by a quart. (25%) Compared to underfilling by 85%. ) Will the oil pump even pick up at a pint level?

I've never seen any mechanical failures due to high sump levels. (not that it happens often)

Ok, when I poured the first 3 quarts out of the first gallon I kept checking the dipstick and was wondering why the dipstick was still clean. Still added another pint and then I realized that the drain was still unplugged. I plugged it back in and poured the last pint. And drove it about 30 feet for maybe 30 seconds or 1 minute, I don稚 know, I was driving slow bc I wasn稚 sure what to do when I saw the oil light ON. And then about 1 hour later I put about 3 quarts from the new one gallon jug I found. The dipstick level is right on the 吐ull. I mowed about 1.5 hours later after I topped off the oil. Only about 10 minutes. I only needed to cut the grass really low to reseed some spots.

No, I knew that the oil tank capacity is about 3.3 quarts. Sorry I didn稚 make it clear earlier.

It was a really dumb thing to do, but what’s done is done. You should probably drain the oil again and check for metal fragments, but it’s probably too late for that. If the oil doesn’t have metal in it than you might be alright. If it does than you should not operate the tractor until the problem is fixed.

So should I change the oil filter again after few hours? Or change the oil again? And do oil test? I really hope it痴 fine. Anything I should inspect or watch out?

Note: I really don稚 know why my typos were all screwed up after submitted.
