I ran a root type grapple dual lid during Hurricane Michael clean up. it opens wider and in my opinion easier to pick up the debris. I purchase a standard Titan grapple dual lid and it does a great job also just does not have as wide of
mouth. It's also better if you had stack anything in the grapple because of its bucket design . Both have their place if it's just general grappling you should be fine with the standard bucket type

Your tractor has plenty of lifting power to use a heavy duty one , if that痴 your preference. I have a titan single lid with a rock bucket. It has not let me down yet. And it was relatively inexpensive as far as grapples go. I use it for moving piles of tree branches and the subsequent tree logs themselves to bring them to the yearly burn piles.

View attachment 587468 I choose a heavy duty rock & root grapple. Got no brush on my 80. See how the grill guard has the added expanded metal. Get a grapple - this added protection is a good idea.

I have three. A wide rake grapple, a wide root grapple and a narrow root grapple. Each has their use, but if I only could have one, it would be the narrow root grapple. It carries the most weight because it is the lightest. The wide root carries more volume and the rake is best for final cleanup (raking). It all depends what you need.

One important note, many current rake grapples have longer lower teeth making them a hybrid in my mind.

I'm looking for a grapple for the front of my new L4760 Kubota. General brush and debris is what it will be used more for. I'm seeing a root style, and then a typical grapple style. What are the advantages and disadvantages of both?

IMO, the first type (clam shell) work better (less flex/ bending) if you are trying to dig out roots and use for a chainsaw stand. The longer, flat bottom ones work better for skimming and general cleanup. Personally, I would avoid any of them that have sides higher than the teeth.

I have used both styles. The one in your 2nd link with the long bottom tines is what I bought for me personally. The other style if its small brush or a little rotten will crush it and break it apart more and drop it. The longer L tines let you slide under the brush pile tilt back and sorta cradle it instead of clam shell trying to clamp down on it to hold it.
A dual lid imo works better for brush and odd shaped stuff.

This is what I purchased. My tractors a little smaller than yours,a kubota l3800 and I've picked up huge piles of brush and branches with this thing. I ordered it from carolina attachments and it's built pretty stout. Great for hauling logs and using like a saw horse for cutting them up too.

For my L6060 I purchased a Titan dual lid 60" and it was perfect, much like your second link. Nice because it has a platform that you can stack on/in. Some grapples have no platflorm. I moved tons of branches and brush and trees and rocks and whatever else I needed to. The mouth opening was not as wide as some, but its not that much of a difference. Plus its was cheap and shipped fast. Unlike the company that has a sticky attachment at the the top of this forum and gets everyone salivating over their grapples and then makes you wait an eternity to get. Titan had free shipping and it came in 4 days. It was also only $1,396

Mine is like Oosik. I still do lots of brush as well. Just clamp down over it instead of trying to scrape and scoop it like a bucket. It works just fine.
