I didn't know times where THIS BAD!!

The wife and I very seldom eat out, today I showed a real estate listing that I have ... on the way in we decided to stop in town for the Pizza Lunch Buffet.

Sitting to my right where 2 ladies, maybe 60-65 yrs ... dressed rather bad. I thought Geez and then the one pulls out a plastic zip lock bag and fills it with some Pizza and stuffs it in her rather good sized bag AND THEN pulls out the second zip lock and scrapes her salad into it!!

On the way out they eyed the buffet and each grabbed a piece for the road ...

I've seen folks do that even in good times. But times are bad. A friend of mine has a pizza shop. One of his employees gave a homeless guy a pizza that was left over. Within a week, he had several homeless folks hanging out in the parking lot at closing time. The local cops finally told him to stop, as the homeless guys were scaring off the customers for nearby businesses. And this was in one of the wealthiest counties in Michigan.

So you are saying that we do not have a problem in America with folks being poor and living on the street? Frankly I am not worried about Manila, I am worried about my own country and taking care of our own people. Just my $.02

My experience says that the poor in America are by choice. Old saying is that if you want to starve an American, "hide their food stamps under their work boots".

There is a difference between cheap and poor. I don't think a poor person would've gone there, much cheaper to eat at home.

I remember a trip to a Wendy's restaurant back in the 80's and watching a family try to pull a fast one at the buffet.

They bought one All-U-Can-Eat salad meal and 4 waters. The Dad started to fill the tray with salad, but the mgr called foul citing Health and Sanitation regulations as reasons he could not use the tray as a plate. She then stood over the table to monitor who ate off the single plate he had paid for.

It was sad to watch, not knowing if the family was that bad off that they could not afford more than one $3.99 meal or if they were just cheap and trying to get one over on the shop. I felt sorry for the two kids having to watch dad eat while they and mom drank their waters while the manager stood next to them scowling.
